TivoPod is a transcoding and podcasting agent that extracts content from the TiVo “Now Playing” list and serves it up as a video podcast for iPods, PSPs, and other portable media devices. The initial version has just been released. Most of the core functionality is present, including autodetection of a TiVo on the network, extracting content from the TiVo (provided the user has the Media Access Key), transcoding for the iPod, and podcasting the result. Catalog browsing of downloaded content is also supported, with Flash video “thumbnails” of the converted videos.
